What happens when a people-focused company with a strong culture of caring gives its team members eight paid volunteer hours?
They show up.
World Finance team members devoted over 4,000 volunteer hours during our 60 Days of Volunteering. That’s an average of 68 volunteer hours per day spent giving back to the 1,000+ communities we’re rooted in.
What’s the 60 Days of Volunteering?
This year is our 60th Anniversary. It’s a landmark year, for sure. But beyond the six decades of business, World is most excited to celebrate the communities and individuals we serve. What better way to do that than to have World team members get out in their neighborhoods and find real, active ways to care?
The efforts spanned all sorts of causes – from food banks to senior centers to community gardens. Most team members joined forces, putting together groups from their branches or regions and showing up in droves to their volunteer days.
Team members put our company values to work.
World Finance District Manager Sherry Cochran’s Texas team gathered to help feed the hungry. “We had a great day helping out in the Caritas food bank and retail store,” she said. “We worked hard! It was a lot of fun and well worth it!” Sherry’s district is among those with the highest participation in 60th Anniversary volunteer efforts, with Regional Vice President Yolie Rocha’s Texas team taking the lead. “We were blessed to be able to help our communities,” Yolie said, “it’s gratifying to be able to help people in need.”
The paid volunteer hours aren’t unique to our 60th Anniversary celebrations, though. All full-time World team members receive eight paid volunteer hours each year in addition to their existing paid time off.
Caring is built into the culture here. Turns out when lots of compassionate people are empowered to give back, great things happen.
